Rev. Artis Eglitis, a Latvian Lutheran pastor, is the director of the River Bend Association, a social/outreach ministry in Cesis, Latvia. Cesis is a community of 20,000 located 1.5 hours from the capitol city of Riga, Latvia. It is a beaufitul city with a rich history of over 800 years. The River Bend Association is a new ministry located in an abandoned orphanage given to the Association by the city to repair the building and develop social ministry programs for the community. The orphanage is located just outside of the city in a beautiful setting in the woods next to the river.

The participants of the servant event would be asked to remove wall paper, repair walls, paint, light carpentry work, etc., depending on the skills of the team. 

The Latvian Lutheran Church will be holding its Church Days in Cesis, July 31-August 2, 2014. Over 2,000 people from all over Latvia will be attending this event. 

 It would be great if the team could provide ministry activities for this event. These activities could include a mini VBS, a sports camp, etc., whatever the team would like to do. Young people like to practice their English. This will be a great opportunity to share the gospel, develop relationships with Latvians, and experience this event.

The cost of the event should be around $2,000 per person, including airfare. There could be some added cost to take a day trip into Riga. Housing would be in the Association building, dorm style rooms. Hotel rooms are available but that would be an extra cost. Let me know if there is an interest for this type of housing. Additional funding would be helpful to cover the cost of materials used during the servant event. All materials needed can be purchased in Latvia.

The servant event will be hosted and organized by Rev. Artis Eglitis and Rev. Mark and Rose Krause. Mark and Rose served as LC-MS missionaries in the Baltic region for 4 years.
